where's my blue boot?

where's my blue boot? by dibujandoarte

where's my blue boot?, a photo by dibujandoarte on Flickr.

yesterday i started this painting out of a collage-sketch i made with
magazines photos. wanted to do some "surreal" images and didn't know how to
start. of course gotta make lots of corrections yet but you know how oil
is. at some point i need to wait till it dries to go on. so here's the
beginning... party time!

this is a painting i did last evening after a magazine ad. i started it
with marker on a very thin low quality paper and ended up painting it with
oil on top.

fooling around with ink 1

fooling around with ink 1 by dibujandoartean imaginary figure in which i don't care about any real shape or size. it's strange, while i was doing it and afterwards too, i see it and feel an urge to go on with the inner part of the figure in pencil lines.

as it is, in a way it's inviting, to be completed mentally in different ways all the time. i'll leave it just like it is, asking me to complete it each time i see it. :P

contest images / obras del concurso

these are the images with which i got the 2nd place in a contest at school based on artist Lola Mora's works. I think the exhibition is about to end in a couple of days...but i'm not sure if it already closed.

gouache painting

this painting was my final work for the subject at school (painting I) Unfortunaltely the teacher couldn't see it. She was diagnosed of a terminal illness a few days before the final exam so she was hospitalized. After I came back from holidays a few days ago I learnt she passed away on jan 02. I couldn't thank her for the freedom I'd felt painting during the year term in her classes, though I had told her, the last day I saw her, I was planning to do two subjects with her this year 2010, but it that won't be possible now. Everytime we met on the street or in some school hall a smiled lightened up her face under the dark glasses she was always wearing. i'll always remember that. Wherever she is now, she must be painting, drawing and making jokes for sure. rip

After the final exam I took this painting (110x75 cm) to a contest at an art galley. I didn't expect to win of course, and luckily it was not rejected so it's still hanging on their walls. Surely in a few days I'll have to pick it up as a new exhibition will be held.

the painting is in gouache, on heavy paper first covered with gesso, . after it was finished I stuck it to a 0,5 cm thick wood and covered the whole painting on top with turpentine and dammar varnish to protect it

sketches in oil

doing some cleaning (that means throwing away many old drawings and sketches as i usually do from time to time to save space) i came across these two quick sketches in oil i had done in 2007. what i don't remember is if i had used a previuous life sketch as model or if i had made them up...

urban view - oil (unfinished)

i started it today at painting class, just a rough sketch in oil up to now. gotta wait till it dries to give different values then finally add the details.

it's after a pic i took from a cd a friend gave me a couple of years ago with some of her travels photos through Spain.
